Cartoons Are For Babies, It's Just Drawings...

I promised myself I would postpone a personal post as long as possible. And then things happened. Woohoo.
It's honestly not a big deal, rather cliche when it comes to artists actually. I can promise you, you could probably guess my situation right now, with my age, current student status and yada yada. But that's now what I'm talking about today.
Well, okay, it stems off from that (and I need a place to blow off some steam) but this little post is on a more broader scale.

I can not say this enough.
Animation is an art form yes, it's a 'creative outlet'(I happen to believe that it's much more then that), but it's also a career.
And honestly? It's more dependable then a lot of other jobs in Hollywood.
No really, don't look at me like that!

Animation is a developing industry, it's always evolving, growing, changing. It's a huge industry, a lot of people forget that every single second on screen, be it character or effects, if it can't be produced in live action, it's made on the computer. Every second. And who's doing the work?
Computers? Hell no.

Someone is behind each and every little twitch and arc, and in order to create an hour and a half of film of a completely animated movie, 3D or 2D, it's a huge amount of work.
Some animators can work on a film for a year or so and they only produce a few minutes at most in the movie. It's tiring WORK.

Art can be WORK?

WOAH!

Ain't that something?

I'm tired of people assuming that anything that delves into the arts as being more 'fun' then work. You always hear about the 'real' jobs, doctors, lawyers, law enforcement, etc. Those are the 'normal' jobs. They're the 'safe' jobs. I'm not knocking these people around in anyway, the amount of dedication that goes into any career is astounding, it requires the kind of attention and devotion that should demand respect. Doctors often go to 10+ years to achieve their goal, lawyers are often in the same boat, and to learn how to SAVE people, keep them alive, out of jail, with their families and friends? You can't berate that. And those two are only two of billions of jobs that exist.

But no one should do the same for artists. (Yep this is one of THOSE posts.)

Some artists take just as much time and consideration into their work, and their schooling can be just as hard. Not only that, but art and its production is just as important as medicine and law.
Sure, medicine and law and such are all necessary, the needs are easier to see, but ART shapes our cultural and communal viewpoints.
The world has revolved around art for millennium  and we will continue to do so. Authors, illustrators, sculptors, animators, designers, performers, dancers? Just as important.
So maybe a dancing isn't usually a matter of life or death.
Does that make it any less important?

All I'm saying is that artists are just as influential and important as anyone else. I'm tired of people belittling it and brushing them off.

There. I'm done now.
